Is it appropriate to throw baby showers when it is a women’s second or third child?
Though there has been some debate on this issue, it seems most people agree that every child’s birth should be honored and celebrated. It’s important to realize that for mothers, baby showers are not just for receiving presents, but for preparing her to bring in her new child. Obviously there are certain larger gifts like cribs and swing sets that don’t need to be re-bought, but other items like clothes and books are appreciated, especially if the child is several years after the first child or of a different sex. If you don’t want to put in the energy and money into having a traditional baby shower, you can throw a “pamper party” in which guests are encouraged to bring diapers and wipes, or even just plan a spa day for the Mommy so she can relax.
